Murray awarded Taste of Staffordshire Masterchef Title 2010

Head Chef Murray won the very prestigious Masterchef of the Year 2010 at a gala dinner and awards ceremony held at The Moat House Hotel, Acton Trussell this week.   The ceremony was attended by restaurateur Sarah Willingham of BBC TV’s Restaurant series and new patron of Taste of Staffordshire.

The announcement followed a challenging two hour ‘cook off’ for the 12 finalists at Stafford College during the day which included preparation of a three course meal using seasonal Staffordshire ingredients.  Murray received a commemorative silver salver together with membership of the British Culinary Federation plus the kudos of the Master Chef 2010 title. 

The competition, sponsored by Essential Cuisine, The British Culinary Federation, Staffordshire County Council, Stafford College and The Moat House at Acton Trussell, has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2006. 

Initiated by the Taste of Staffordshire, the competition aims to raise standards and develop culinary talent, promote local dishes and produce, and celebrate Staffordshire’s distinctive gastronomic appeal.

Judges comments:
"Murray is serious about his cooking and he has a very clever way of mixing spices giving excellent aromas on the palate without overpowering the taste.  His 3 course menu and the originality of the dishes acheived an absolutely perfect balance.  In such a high quality competition with some great chefs he is a very worthy winner for the Masterchef title."
